Godzilla (2014)

I haven't watched that many godzilla movies (2 japanese and the american version from 1998) but i still wanted to see this movie, and was really looking foward to it. Godzilla looked awesome, a little fat but awesome. The trailer really fooled me, because I went into this movie thinking that we would get alot of Bryan Cranston and Godzilla. We didn't get that much of neither of them, and that really disapointed me. Though in the short time we got to see them, they were awesome. Bryan Cranston was really great, I really felt with the character and I got really exited about the rest of the movie. Though that did not last long, because his boring son became the main character and the movie suddenly went south.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson played a really uninteresting character, who I didn't care for. what annoyed me wasn't that they chose not to show that much of Godzilla, but that the two other monsters got so much more screen time. The two other monsters looked like sh*t, they sort of looked like a blend of the Cloverfield monster and a turtle. As I wrote earlier in the review, I didn't like the main character so it bothered me that he also got so much screen time. I just didn't get that invested in any of the characters, and that really annoyed me because Bryan Cranston was sooo good and would have been a perfect main character.

The ending was very spetacular, there is a fight between the monsters which was really cool. And after watching Pacific Rim which had "hundreds" of monster fights. I was actually happy that Godzilla didn't have that many fights, because I felt that there was to many fights in Pacific Rim, which made them really boring. So the fight in Godzilla made a much bigger impact on me than any of the fights in Pacific Rim.

The movie was way to long, and most of the characters were really poorly written. It wasn't the worst movie I've watched this year, but I was really disapointed. Im not sure of what I was expecting, but I was pretty annoyed when the movie was over. This was a very
mediocre movie 5.5/10

Overrated movies... (part 1)

Avatar:

If you want to read my thoughts about this movie, have I already reviewed it.

Guardians of the Galaxy:

I really don't get the comedy in this movie... Me and my friends watched this movie together and we were puzzled that people really liked it and thought that it was funny. I just found this movie to be boring... The performances was nothing special and the story was predictable and not that interesting. It just felt like a standard marvel movie, but I just don't get marvel movies annymore. Disney Marvel movies never suprise me and are quite boring in my opinion, but they make tons of movie so I better shut up...

Lucky Number Slevin

This movie goes under the category of movies that annoy the living sh*t out of me. This movie has the most predictable and stupid twists ever. Lucky Number Slevin tries to be something special, but ends up being very mediocre. A 4/10 kind of movie.

BeetleJuice

Another movie I just don't get, everybody said it was super funny, but I did not laugh one single time... A really disapointing movie, from a director who I really don't know if I like or not. Not to get off topic, but Tim Burton has been really disapointing these last years. He has directed a lot of great movies, but his last movies really s*cked.

Monster

A great performance by Charlize Theron, she totally became that character. Though she was really great, the movie is really sh*tty. There are not alot of other memorable performances, and yet another boring movie. Boring movies are the worst... I can watch a bad movie without being totally p*ssed off, but once a movie starts getting boring I go totally nuts. Just like I did when I watched this piece of cr*p.

There will probably be a part 2...

My Top 5 Favorite Sci-Fi Movies

 (Random order)

Star Wars: Episode V - Empire Strikes Back (1980)

This is sort of a boring choice, because everybody loves Star Wars. This is one of my favorite movies, it's a classic. The second instalment to one of the greatest movie sagas of all time. It's a dark, action packed adventure with one of the most memorable movie twists EVER! If you haven't watched the Star Wars-trilogy yet  you're really missing out. This is the best movie sequal!

A Clockwork Orange (1971)

A fantastic movie with great characters and soundtrack. This is my favorite Stanley Kubrick movie, and in my opinion one of the greatest movies ever. Alex is the best anti-hero and is perfectly portrayed by Malcolm McDowell. A brilliant film directed by the greatest movie director of all time.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

This is a masterpiece of a movie. It is perfectly shot, and the special effects are still impressive to this day. The soundtrack is incredible and the villian is fantastic! Some say this movie is to slow, I say it's close to perfect.

Alien (1979)

Not just a great sci-fi movie, but one of the best horror movies ever. The sets are amazing, and
the movie is suspence full as f*ck.
The alien (xenomorph) is one of
the best and scariest movie aliens, and really makes this movie stand out. The face hugers are terrifying aswell, the thought of having a alien  inside your stomach that will burst out of your chest is horrifying. This is truly a haunting tale and a brilliant movie.

The Thing (1982)

The thing is the greatest movie monster, and the consept of not knowing who the thing is disguised as, is really great. The practical effects are really brilliant and is what makes this movie really stand out. And just like Alien this is not just a great sci-fi movie but a fantastic horror movie.

American Hustle

wow....

I'm a huge Christian Bale fan, I seriously consider him as maybe THE best (working) actor in Hollywood. And he was the main reason I wanted to see this movie, but for some reason it took me a long time to watch this movie. I was not expecting that much, but I still had some expectations. I was
expecting a fun movie with alot of great preformances... I expected to much.... This movie really bored me, and annoyed the living cr*p out of me. Christian Bale did not disappoint, but his performance did not save this snore fest. Almost all of the characters were really annoying especially Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Laurence. These are som of THE most overrated actors at the moment. I still have not been impressed by eather of these actors, their OK at the best... The movie is directed by David O. Russel who also directed "The Fighter" which is a good movie. So I do not understand why he failed so f*cking hard with American Hustle.

My biggest issue with American Hustle is that it's soooo boring and long, and it really wanted to be a Martin Scorsese movie. The editing sucked, the soundtrack had some good songs, but it didn't fit the style of the movie.... In my personal opinion the best part of the movie was the short Robert De Niro cameo. De Niro's character felt scary and was compelling, so it really sucked that he played such a minor part...

This movie was all over the place, and I could not stop comparing it with Scorsese's Casino or Wolf of Wall Street because of the movie's style and narration. I shouldn't have compared it with either of the other movies, because they are sooo much more compelling and interesting. There are some decent performances (especially Christian Bale) I thought Amy Adams and Louis C.K. were good. The movie really annoyed me, and I do not recommend annybody to watch it. There are so many other movies from the same year that you should rather watch.. Just spare yourself from this mess of a movie...

I rate this movie 4.5/10
